Our take
Simmering with illicit desire, François Truffaut’s tempestuous drama stars Fanny Ardant in her first collaboration with the director. Unable to be with or without the other, the film’s doomed lovers are consumed by the twin flames of an extramarital affair, in which guilt coexists with pleasure.
