What are people saying?

  • Richmond Hill's rating of the film There We Are John...

Inevitably tragic given Jarman's frailty, but as eloquent, good humoured and full of sensible grace as you'd imagine from him. The stylistic decision to shoot in black & white adds a degree of understandable, but somewhat unnecessary, austerity, but this is small complaint for such an elegiac cameo of kind humanity. The music instantly returns one to 1990s 'art house' cinema. The past is a foreign country indeed...
