Costner's god awful accent is really only distracting in the early scenes. Wish Bruce Greenwood were a bigger star than Costner because he's giving one of the best unsung performances by an actor as a famous public figure...it's a perfect balance of impersonation while not overdoing it and playing it as a character. Engrossing docu-drama that needs to be reevaluated.
Four good men, Jack and Robert Kennedy, Kenny O'Donnell and Robert MacNamara struggle against the pressures to go to war against Russia over 13 days. Post Hiroshima we all feared that we would slide into a nuclear war. Kevin Costner realised how crucial the support and personal bonds between these 4 men were to dissuade the US military from attacking Russian missiles in Cuba. A moment of history worth watching.
