The story of a woman who searches through the country for her husband, a resistant, while the war for independence is raging. She finds him at last and saves his life. When peace finally arrives, they have to learn how to be together again and start living in a destroyed land.

There are some very enjoyable scenes here, especially the first third of this. Ultimately, though, it tries to tell too many stories at once, and ends up with some serious narrative issues. Sako's foot, whatever happens with that? Estin forgets Sako, but we've never seen any evidence that they were together. I could go on. This is a fine example of some wonky storytelling amidst some great individual moments.
