It certainly lives up to it's title but a disturbing, visceral first half is let-down by a pedestrian, repetitive second and is ultimately compromised by it's cheap, exploitative nature. Along with Fujita's Lady Snowblood, this is allegedly the Swedish inspiration behind Kill Bill and, despite it's problems, still manages to tower above Tarantino's effort
A classic revenge thriller, Christina Lindberg makes for a stunning protagonist a midst all the brutality. Avoid the uncut version though, the studio inserted nasty porn segments without the permission of Vibenius. So keep an eye out for the special edition which retains all the violence & removes the unnecessary close up penetration shots.
I managed to see the full uncut version. Despite being pornographic, I found this movie a true indicator to how the ugly world of sex trafficking truly is. The sound track is incredible and perfectly matched to the slow-motion revenge scenes. A fantastic piece of 70s exploitation cinema. Slow and creeping.
Despite having a memorable protagonist and an interesting revenge story premise, the direction and narrative are flawed and had several inconsistencies. The killings just go on forever and are really tedious. Normally I would just give it 2* but for the premise it deserves at least 3. If it had been done with a more serious approach, the story and the situations could had a lot of potential to make a really dark film
This one really takes place in its own context in terms of a lot of sound choices and general editing. I would say that the choices made are extremely their own and creative and it all gives the film a great tone that is addicting to watch. What can be argued as flaws in the film, usually seem more like characteristic oddities and overall, I haven't experienced too much quite like it.
