Vital. The responsibility I feel to create meaningful, anti-hegemonic stories and images for the next generation is weighing so heavy, but in the best way. I love being black, dude.

Saw this at the Detroit Film Theatre. Missed the first few minutes so I'm not sure if the narrator offered any kind of overarching premise or thesis. Without one, the film felt a little hodgepodge, and the narrator's personal/familial introspection came across as quixotic. By and large though, the images were haunting, evocative, and enlightening, and the talking heads were insightful. An important film.
