Craft-wise, I don't exactly think it's one of Hitchcock's masterpieces. There's no real complexity to it, and more emphasis is put on the glamour and scenic beauty than the actual plot. But, does that make it not enjoyable? Heavens, no! It still features Hitchcock's unparalleled direction and his trademark suspense/humor mixture, and the Grant and Kelly's red hot chemistry makes for some sexy fun.
A highly enjoyable romp set amongst the sparkling high society of the French Riviera. The scenery is dazzling and, watching this film again, the colours really are dazzling sharp and accentuated. Forget the formulaic plot, this is a thrilling, witty melodrama with a stunning look.
Entertaining lightweight thriller where plotting and pacing definitely take second place to Hitchcock's evident enjoyment of the scenery, the chemistry between the leads and some characteristically striking visuals, not least the arresting use of green in the dark. Well remastered - it looks great in HD.
