Ratings & Reviews

  1. ceknklsn's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

  2. Aaken's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Pleasant but shallow hiatus for Hitchock, set in the luscious French riviera, with future princess-to-be Grace. Light and charming, everybody seems to have fun. Not a masterpiece but an entertaining comedy of errors disguising as a crime flick. Glamorous fluff.

  3. Howard Fritzson's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

3.5 stars. This frivolous film is obviously made by a master of the medium. His command of timing, framing, editing is so total that there is much pleasure to be gotten by simply watching how it is done.

  4. Dan Kenneth Gigernes's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Hitchcock's best romantic crime caper movie. It has a great Monte Carlo location with sexy leads (legendary Cary Grant and soon-to be princess Grace Kelly at her most gorgeous). Beautifully photographed too. Only Grace Kelly's scary race driving feels gruesomely eerie as if it predicted her real life fate dying on those same roads a few decades later. Still this is a masterpiece of a film.

  5. De La Ghetto's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

You think a lotta men cant handle the regalness of a up do, right? Right? You all like Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly.

  7. enkii__bilal's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Most boring Hitchcock movie i ever saw.

  8. A.B. II: The Return's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Craft-wise, I don't exactly think it's one of Hitchcock's masterpieces. There's no real complexity to it, and more emphasis is put on the glamour and scenic beauty than the actual plot. But, does that make it not enjoyable? Heavens, no! It still features Hitchcock's unparalleled direction and his trademark suspense/humor mixture, and the Grant and Kelly's red hot chemistry makes for some sexy fun.

  9. petit astronaute's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

(2.8 | 35mm) I love the way they're dressed, it's the most remarkable thing about the film. That and the colours and the blonde virgin.

  10. FISCHER's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Estival et plaisant, distrayant et bon enfant, sympathique somme toute... www.cinefiches.com

  11. Drew Kelly's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Some nicely focused colors every so often.

  12. Disa's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

+1 just because Grant & Kelly I'm totally biased.

  14. Stian Gledje Bekkvik's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

  15. Christian Rains's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Slight and breezy. Pleasant enough with some solid filmmaking, but pretty forgettable for Hitchcock.

  16. Thomas's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

A highly enjoyable romp set amongst the sparkling high society of the French Riviera. The scenery is dazzling and, watching this film again, the colours really are dazzling sharp and accentuated. Forget the formulaic plot, this is a thrilling, witty melodrama with a stunning look.

  17. Maudealan's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

  18. jonijtr's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

  19. Rui Oliveira's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

One of Hitchcock's lightest films, but still very enjoyable, and fun. The use of colours is amazing, making the most of the then new Technicolor techniques. Beautiful landscapes and a lot of glamour.

  20. film_lies101's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Hitchcock at his lightest and fluffiest; mildly entertaining. The lighting in this film seems to have had an influence on Gialli

  21. Ashley Spendlove's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Entertaining lightweight thriller where plotting and pacing definitely take second place to Hitchcock's evident enjoyment of the scenery, the chemistry between the leads and some characteristically striking visuals, not least the arresting use of green in the dark. Well remastered - it looks great in HD.

  22. Crina Cătălina Bucur's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

(3.5) Featherlight. However, the wonderful Côte d'Azur and the stunning cinematography do make for an enjoyable watch. The dark room was pure perfection.

  23. raggiodisole's rating of the film To Catch a Thief

Not much that elevates this above other Hitch efforts, but passes the time pleasantly
