3.5 I often wonder why Jun ichikawa hasn't had more exposure in the west. An Ozu disciple, Ichikawa had no need for loud noise or histrionics, just quiet people living quiet lives. His movies are quintessentially Japanese (or how the west perceives thoughtful Japanese movies to be) and would go down an absolute treat with that Kore-eda and Kawase crowd.
