Ratings & Reviews

  1. FISCHER's rating of the film Tokyo March

A ce jour, (octobre 2005, festival de Pordenone) nous n'avons pu voir que vingt-neuf minutes de ce film dont il ne reste plus aucune copie entière disponible. Tous les espoirs sont permis et notre patience sans limite... www.cinefiches.com

  2. Bonnet Michel's rating of the film Tokyo March

  3. L'immoralistee's rating of the film Tokyo March

  4. Aydin KhaliliK's rating of the film Tokyo March

The opening phrase "Tokyo... city of culture and progress... but also capital of vice and debauchery", approves that Mizoguchi is a truly "modern" auteur, in 1929.

  5. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Tokyo March

De esas historias de amor imposibles. Mizoguchi y una historia más sobre un benefactor y una historia de amor frustrada por el destino.

  6. El Biffo's rating of the film Tokyo March

It seems a few reels are missing, so it's difficult to judge. What is left still has plot continuity, but much of the original beauty of this film has probably been lost forever. Fortunately, 27 minutes still exist. Many old silent films are completely lost! I don't know if any of Mizoguchi's first 30 films (1923-1925) can be seen anywhere...

  7. Francisco R.'s rating of the film Tokyo March

Mizoguchi shares with Dreyer a very similar source for motivations that later shaped his directorial vision: a troubled childhood. This early short film proves that point as it is quite straightforward in its biographical references.
