Ratings & Reviews

  1. Kamran's rating of the film Train of Shadows

A fascinating rumination on cinema and time, from the silent era to forgotten memories to revival and transformation. 83/100 - Great.

  2. Robert Orlowski's rating of the film Train of Shadows

I wanted to give this five stars, but god there was something so incredibly corny about some of these scenes, especially the "poetic" ones.

  3. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Train of Shadows

  4. Gyseltrut's rating of the film Train of Shadows

  5. Mihai Cristea's rating of the film Train of Shadows

  6. JVG's rating of the film Train of Shadows

"Tren de sombras" is, by far, the greatest achievement of recent Spanish cinema. Guerín creates a unique mixture of documentary, found footage and experimental narrative in order to reveal the deepest nature of art. A fascinating, reflective masterpiece.

  7. TheBigCombo's rating of the film Train of Shadows

Hubiera sido una gran pelicula de 40 minutos, mostrando primero el footage encontrado y luego su "reinpretacion", que es lo mejor del film. Hay un aire a Marienbad, y por consiguiente, a Morel.

  8. © <',))( Astro-Tofupraxographer's rating of the film Train of Shadows

"So if you wanna come sweating, stressing, contesting you'll catch a sharp sword to the midsection"

  9. kartina obskura's rating of the film Train of Shadows

like Sylvia could be real, but she doesn't have to - what's the difference? same here, what's the difference between shadows of things and "real" things? on one side we have Arthur Rembaud, that same Rembaud who wandered his entire life in a search for so many different state of mind and soul, living surrealism, like Breton would say. on the other side, we have Fernando Pessoa and more than 70 different names

  10. DK's rating of the film Train of Shadows

Stunningly beautiful if a little sombre at times. Like a lovely melding together of Patrick Keiller, Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy, and Blow Up. Guerin reveals (and revels in) those temporal, ghostly shadows that underlie film-making, the 'thingness' of film brought entirely to the surface and made sensual. I got chills during the freeze frames. Art as artifact--that is, full of unseen, undetected history.

  11. Dan.'s rating of the film Train of Shadows

interesting, but simply not for me. i was really hoping to like it after watching in the city of sylvia too... ah well

  12. localdjango's rating of the film Train of Shadows

I didn't know an empty house could be so compelling.
