Fun in plot, surprisingly strong in its production, and with even-more surprising heavier emphasis on its central character and world-building, Trick or Treat is a solid metal-horror film offering. Really, the only criticism against the film is with its character study that’s building leans towards heavy metal generics and high school tropes, meaning there thus isn’t enough emphasis on fun in horror and action.
3.5 "Songs in the Key of Death". Underappreciated horror comedy directed by Terry the Toad and lensed by Robert Elswit. Well made, with a sensitivity to the classic tropes of high school experience and an overall light touch. Marc Price makes for a perfect metalhead outcast. Ozzy Osbourne shows up as a reverend and Gene Simmons is surprisingly good in his brief role as a DJ. Shot in North Carolina.
