I'm relatively new to the genre, but of the maybe 20 or so blaxploitation films I've seen, this is by far one of my favs.
A Hollywood studio stepped into the Blaxploitation ring with a solid contender. The movie's bit aimless at first but dances about with some wit and style before laying into a solid final action sequence culminating in an unusually creatively filmed death scene. That, plus the great Isaac Hayes soundtrack (including a song that intercuts very effectively with his dialog) make this a cut above standard Grindhouse fare.
Soundtrack was great, and it had some laughs. I can see this movie getting a remake.
"This ain't my year. Here's a pimp, patio full of whores.. I'm the one getting fucked... nah!" .... I think I found my new favorite genre.
Absolutely the best Blaxploitation movie. It has action, wit, charm, fairly competent direction, a great soundtrack by the star (who is probably the biggest highlight himself) ISAAC HAYES!
