I love Talking Heads and it was such a cheerful awkward sensation to watch David Byrne directing a film. All the songs have their best versions on the soundtrack album, but who can resist to see David Byrne with various cowboy hats or John Goodman singing? A cult classic that deserves to be seen.
What a beautiful, wondrous and life-affirming movie. It makes one wonder why David Byrne has never made another movie. There is just something so charming and endearing about this trip through Virgil, Texas. It's idealistic without being over sentimental or naive. And, of course, there's the great Talking Heads soundtrack. I want to live inside this movie.
Wonderfully strange musical satire from Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. Packed with surreal humor, great character actors - including Byrne himself hitting just the right tone as the offbeat narrator - and some unexpected takes on some classic Talking Heads songs. A smart and unrelentingly entertaining film, a genuine cult classic.
