Like many biopics, this one falls short of being anything more than another moral tale disguised as a story based on a true events. But, thanks to Bryan Cranston, it's enjoyable to watch and witness tragic events being turned into self-ironic comedy. Every obstacle and sidewalk the main character is unjustifiably taken, is handled in such a cynical manner, that Cranston's performances shines as one of the year's best
This isn’t cinema. This is a history channel re-enactment. Which is a shame cause there is an important story here. Liberals now use Hollywood leftism as a cheap way to show how they are morally ahead of the curve, yet their politics now are closer to the people who had turned their back on Trumbo and the Hollywood 10. You never even get a real sniff of his actual politics, which is there to soften the blow. Bleh
Brisk biography colourfully told with plenty of fizz and verve. The performances are first class but the narrative lacks depth somehow. It skips through Dalton Trump's career at a great pace which makes for an enjoyable watch. Unfortunately this also sacrifices not only some breathing time to reflect, but also the historical weight of the times.
