Changing social attitudes fuel "Two Lane Blacktop" and as an accurate portrayal of shifting values the film is really quite significant. Beyond that however, I struggled to connect with much going on, and although the disconnection from the audience is obvious, I just don't think this ideal holds much beyond analytical purposes. Some nice performances are present here however, and the attitude is something to behold.
This one is just a curiosity. It becomes an amazhttp://www.theauteurs.com/films/847ing movie if you take into account the movie he made just before "The Shooting" because at least you can take refugee in its nihilism and alleged soul-searching. But it is still a curiosity.
