Alex R. Johnson United States, 2014

filmcapsule's rating of the film Two Step

Aesthetically ambivalent like so many other American indies. This alone is a cinematic sin, but Two Step also trades in its carefully-built potential for heart and sincerity for trite southern-fried thriller fare. The prisoner's changing motivations doesn't match his character. Even the early sequences between the young protagonist and the dancing instructor that did work for me felt a bit forced and overly writerly.
