My hands are still shaking. While watching “Tyrannosaur “, for a brief moment, I swear, I heard my heart beating faster. I heard my own breath. Every second was so deliberated, so inclusive. I can’t find right words to describe the brilliance of the actors and how they became involved in what they do. Phenomenal. This film will stay in a corner of my heart forever.
Outstanding achievement. Considine, has managed to synthesize the essence of human emotion, with all it's multifaceted complexities, and craft it into a story which is, at times, brutal, loving, existential, depressing, dark, comic but ultimately honest and real. Mullan (fearless as ever) creates a turbulent monster of a character with equally unbridled yet deeply repressed tenderness. Bleak and beautiful.
Tyrannosaur left me cold. Not because it is brutal, angry or borderline nihilstic but because it's very one dimensional, predictable and muddy. one of the few films where i was thinking about leaving the cinema early. it's a "hard" film for people who normally don't watch hard films. you could enjoy THE BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN if you liked this one.
