Ratings & Reviews

  1. José Neves's rating of the film A Woman’s Life

Digital. In 58, Astruc staged calligraphically the same Maupassant's novel that now is subject to the habitual treatment of para-realism that became current and that so much praise deserved this director previous film. And if in the midst of so much formlessness something resists, only to Maupassant should be attributed such value. See above all the aforementioned splendid Alexandre Astruc film.

  2. Draughtsman Without Contract's rating of the film A Woman’s Life

'Life is neither as good nor as bad as you think'. It's mostly pretty miserable though in this Maupassant adaptation which has a wonderful interior, subjective feel with dexterous juxtapositions in time to illustrate how the past affects perception of the present. Beautifully done albeit sometimes gruelling but keep going for the very final sequence ....

  3. Alcock Hitchfred's rating of the film A Woman’s Life
