  1. ebabehh's rating of the film Vagabond

Composed, like the Savage Detectives, as a series of detached testimonials and intersecting poetic vignettes centering around the wandering (or "withering") young, beautiful, and untethered Mona. What does she really desire? Sex, grass? I suspected, deep down, a combination of love and freedom, which, out of all of the characters "in this world for you without arms," only Assouna came close to fulfilling.

  3. dokuz10's rating of the film Vagabond

Mona is not a drifter, rebel or someone who is trying to make a point against the "system" as the philosopher shepherd says. She is trying to escape herself and the choices she made. She is trying to escape people by finding worse characters in her travel. The book-end style is fitting for this film. I do enjoy when the director is also the editor. Brilliant storytelling by Agnès Varda.

  4. Mtume Gant's rating of the film Vagabond

“Why did you drop out?” “Champagne on the road is better.” No lines better describes Varda’s masterwork. It’s truly a film all it’s own that only she can do.

  5. hubertguillaud's rating of the film Vagabond

  6. "K."'s rating of the film Vagabond

Melancólica. Triste.

  7. Didonne's rating of the film Vagabond

  8. FISCHER's rating of the film Vagabond

  10. Diderot's rating of the film Vagabond

One of the greatest films ever made, with one of the greatest performances of one of the greatest characters. It remains the masterpiece of Varda's fiction work, and I've rarely loved a character more than Bonnaire's Mona.

  11. darioscha's rating of the film Vagabond

  14. ville_juan's rating of the film Vagabond

"you choose total freedom, but you got total loneliness. if you want to live, you stop" like a slap on my face.

  22. Rafael Zen's rating of the film Vagabond

Is having nothing the only way of having it all? As Mona, Varda travels through - alleys, abandoned places, abandoned people, all passengers, everything passing by. It's so beautiful how each time somebody tells their version of Mona's freedom, because each one had to leave something behind to be stable. Choosing to build her film on this opposite game, Varda doesn't make a movie, she builds a mirror.

  23. Rikard Westeman's rating of the film Vagabond

A sad film about a sad woman. Her journey and Varda's narrative device makes it interesting enough. Bu the aimlessness of it and Mona's mysterious nature resulted in a film I had trouble fully engaging with.
