There's nothing special about this doc...other than its subjects. Valentino & Giancarlo are hilariously hot and cold. Perfect together. When Giancarlo told Valentino that he looked too tan and Valentino said "noooo" and just shook his head, I almost died.
It is amazing to see the secret life behind fashion- what I mean is that a fashion icon is almost moot- simply a figurehead for a a fashion house within an industry that focuses less on artistic freedom and more on money.
I would never dream of squelching a seasoned designer's ideas- without him, the house is a joke
Unexpectedly well shot snapshot of probably one of the most sophisticated characters in post war Italian culture. Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti emerge as the image of everlasting companionship.
A well made documentary behind the lines of the fashion industry, luckily shot through a transformational phase for the maison. But what makes this movie truly remarkable is the exploratory journey through the pure, almost divine, and therefore obsessive and sometimes destructive research of the absolute beauty in every facet of life. The disfiguring human research of God's perfection. A Babel, but deep purple red.
