There's quite a bit of irony and a lot of clever lines for a seemingly soapy teenage movie. Especially when the well-off Valley prom king and queen get together and the mother of the girl sighs "aah, you're both dressed in pink!". There's a lot more hiding behind the appearances, the soundtrack is great and the wardrobe hilarious. A good watch if you know what you're going for.
Words cannot describe. This film epitomises 'first world problems' and macho territorialism. Maybe I don't identify with teen angst any more or care what people think, but man she is a serious victim of peer pressure. The characters were 2D and the dialogue strained, but there were redeeming moments, bitchin' outfits, a fantastic soundtrack, and it didn't shy away from sex like every other hollywood teen film.
Does what it says on the tin. A totally tubular time capsule to the 80's that has all the high school drama boxes ticked (if formulaic in nature) and even a few slightly more subversive sub-plots bubbling away underneath. Cage's eyebrow game is particularly impressive.
