2-2.5. The references and anecdotes are a huge part of what makes this movie worth watching. When you really rip the plot details away from them, you find issues like the friendship between one character and her hippy friend going nowhere, and another giving up eternal youth to force herself into a relationship and family that she probably can't handle. Really fun cast, though: it's like, "Hey, that guy!" The movie.

Probably the cutest movie about becoming old and irrelevant

  7. msmichel's rating of the film Vamps

Despite its' low quality visual effects and its feeling of nostalgia Heckerling has made a pretty charming little film here. Success is mainly due to the pairing of Silverstone and Ritter who bridge that gap between 'Clueless' and '..the Bitch in Apartment..' with great ease. Even when the jokes fall flat its never at the expense of these two wry performers. Worth a giggle.

  10. Matthew_Lucas's rating of the film Vamps

Refreshingly original comedy from Amy Heckerling (FAST TIMES AT RIDEGMONT HIGH, CLUELESS) about two ageless vampires trying to navigate life and dating in modern day New York. Slyly plays with vampire lore and cliches (while a rich appreciation for cinema history), VAMPS is a chick flick with a twist. Smartly written and highly entertaining.

  12. Nikyatu's rating of the film Vamps

Hokey. Fun. Doesn't take itself too seriously like most vampire flicks. Lots of creativity in making these characters contemporary. Can we get ONE black vampire?! I'm just saying.

  14. Juan Barquin's rating of the film Vamps

This movie is so over the top, but I just enjoyed almost every minute of it. There were more than enough scenes that left me groaning, but you can see how intentionally ridiculous they were meant to be. It’s messy, but somehow it's easier to watch than most vampire movies nowadays. At the very least you've got an awesome cast, and you can tell that each of them was having fun with it and that helps a lot.
