Ratings & Reviews

  1. Eric Eidelstein's rating of the film Victim

I'm not sure if Victim is a good thriller or even a good film, but it is a significant political one. I'll leave things there.

  2. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Victim

  3. FISCHER's rating of the film Victim

Oeuvre courageuse qui dénonçait une stupide loi de l'époque, considérant l'homosexualité comme une grave perversion... www.cinefiches.com

  4. Wee Hunk's rating of the film Victim

The parallels between the character he was playing and his own life do not go unnoticed. It was a brave film and a brave actor. Way ahead of it's time.

  5. Christopher M. Jones's rating of the film Victim

Slow and more than a bit dry, but tough it out: there are few mysteries where you'll find better writing or more nuanced, believable characters. A fiendishly underrated borderline-lost classic.

  6. ExperimentoFilm's rating of the film Victim

Amusingly dated and at times hysterically scripted and scored, but clearly a brave and worthy film to have made before 1967. Fine cinematography too.

  7. lina maj's rating of the film Victim

"Victim's" Bogarde looks straight out of fashion magazine 2015! I bet the message of this film was important back then - now it's a beautiful antiquity.

  8. Mx Nihil's rating of the film Victim

"Well, it used to be witches. At least they don't burn you." Probably Bogarde's best film.

  9. Morris Bros.'s rating of the film Victim

  10. Samuel Andrade's rating of the film Victim

  11. Barboza's rating of the film Victim

  12. Cinema Omnivore's rating of the film Victim

an excellent signpost of integrity and true to one's nature. an 8/10 my review: http://lasttimeisawdotcom.wordpress.com/2012/04/08/last-film-i-saw-victim/

  13. Daniel S.'s rating of the film Victim

Basil Dearden magnificently handles a sensitive theme (like racism in Sapphire) while delivering an above average crime story. Alternating realist sequences on location and tense dialog scenes, the director manages to present the perfect mainstream movie with a social concern. It's Capraesque, it's a masterpiece.

  14. batarde's rating of the film Victim

  15. Richmond Hill's rating of the film Victim

Focused social conscience: British style. A surprisingly neat little thriller spoon feeding a more liberal message.
