3.8 When I think back to my childhood I remember certain moments that are now rose-tinted with cinematic influence. Causing mischief and then feeling embarrassment and shame at my behaviour, feeling fearful around grown ups, being mean to kind-hearted girls who just wanted to be friends. These moments are universal. This film captures these moments perfectly, albeit in another time and place.
A very quaint childhood journey story, but I'm not sure if there's anything to the film beyond that simple premise. I know a lot of people have gotten a lot of meaning out of this picture, but I got the simplistic journey, and while good, it left it less than the revelation others have touted it as.
