A very personal investigation of the obsession that drives collectors to accumulate records. The documentarist himself is in a process of investigating his own obsessions and faillures, making this film a very intimate journey. And turning the interviews into honest exchanges of people who understand each other, way beyond any journalistic method or format. "I'd rather talk about music" is a repetive defense we hear.
Ever owned a record for months or years without listening to it? Ever been behind a couple of hundred listens? For us cineastes; own more films than you could possibly watch in the rest of your life? Then you just might be a collector. Zweig captures the mania/obsession in collecting in this film that is about anything other then the enjoyment of music. Fascinating, sad and strangely therepautic. A real gem.
