  1. El Biffo's rating of the film Violated

Lurid B-Noir pic has a lot going for it. Amateurish acting only adds to the Neo-Realist influence evident in the many street scenes of old New York: Bellevue Hospital, Staten Island Ferry, and many great neighborhood/street shots with real people, not paid extras. This must have been a breath of fresh air to 1953 American audiences deadened by Hollywood fakeness and censorship. Thanks2 Zynab for the recommendation!

  2. ZYNAB's rating of the film Violated

unique exploitation noir shot on location in nyc that predates the new york roughies of doris wishman, the findlays and others...very surprising to see something like this emerge this early and even more surprising that it's not talked about. the eerie music and gritty chiaroscuro are at odds with the fable-esque plot and amateur acting and everything swirls into an inky black, bloody dream...a gorgeous enigma
