Ratings & Reviews

  1. Erik F.'s rating of the film Wag the Dog

Just 20 years ago this probably seemed far-fetched, but it now seems all-too-prescient in the era of reality TV, social media and "fake news." Furiously fast and funny, it barks and bites at the ridiculous political machine and the public's hopeless complicity.

  2. pluviosity's rating of the film Wag the Dog

the film tilted itself between screwball comedy and satire, which was weirdly, either not very subtle or trying too hard to be subtle, which ended up like negating both of the side.. (yes, I'm talking crap). Anyway, it's weirdly entertaining, and perhaps one of Robert de Niro's bests.

  3. Catarina Fernandes's rating of the film Wag the Dog

  4. QuincyArthur's rating of the film Wag the Dog

shows how things are written into the fabric of politics and society on a very abstract level. Hoffman>de niro in this. But liked robert's hat and demeanor. Nibbling and pinching satire it was good

  5. Robert Howard's rating of the film Wag the Dog

It seems like Barry Levinson was re-energized with this film. There's a vitality across the board. Last time I saw it it was shockingly prescient. Fantastic.

  6. Mtume Gant's rating of the film Wag the Dog

Levensons best film by far. Highly enjoyable and great satiric sarcasm throughout. Also one of Hoffman's last great roles. 3.5

  7. Mouraz's rating of the film Wag the Dog

  8. Jens Forup's rating of the film Wag the Dog

Brilliant movie - makes you think

  9. orangey's rating of the film Wag the Dog

overblown, overacted, overdone. A lecture by Chomsky is more informative and more funny than this is at its best

  10. CafeGradiva's rating of the film Wag the Dog

  11. Kirby's rating of the film Wag the Dog

A lot of great things here, especially Hoffman and Harrelson. But there's no real conflict. Any problem that arises is so quickly resolved or spun to look good. There is no tension, and that makes some of this film a bit boring.

  12. meancreek's rating of the film Wag the Dog

De Niro and Hoffman have great screen chemistry and the result is a fun, clever political satire.

  13. Øyvind Rype's rating of the film Wag the Dog

Certainly not perfect but contains so many razor-sharp moments of satire the weak moments can be forgiven. A shame I haven't seen this one before.

  14. drmishello's rating of the film Wag the Dog

Fun to watch and with just the right dose of mockery on the politics.

  15. Jaspar Lamar Crabb's rating of the film Wag the Dog

Probably the last real performance by Robert DeNiro

  16. NenaNadine's rating of the film Wag the Dog

  17. Eleanor Abernathy's rating of the film Wag the Dog

important (and eerily fishy smelling) political satire. i get a kick out of watching it (and it's sooooooooooooo true!).
