Ratings & Reviews

  1. Brotherdeacon's rating of the film Warlock

3 & a half spurs. The Western male codes allow for some serious gay subtext between slappin' leather, polishing gold handled six-shooters, defining the actions of heroes and interior decorating. Women are shills pure and simple with none of the depth our 3 male stars enjoy. Good script, bad make--up.

  2. JonMB's rating of the film Warlock

This film is full of interesting characters and good performances. Fonda and Quinn have good chemistry as a misfit couple hired to bring order to the gang riddled town of Warlock. Their goals may be similar but their motivations and values are not. Widmark plays a reformed gang member trying to put his past behind him as he takes a different, more traditional, path to bringing law and order. Great story.

  3. dschank's rating of the film Warlock

hollywood's big name liberals (fonda, widmark) team with a later blacklisted director (dymytrk) for thoughtful genre fare like the superior "3:10 to yuma." full of admirably complex ideas, but poorly arranged and executed. better editing and smoother storytelling could have made this a classic. still, it has a few good moments. a young deforest kelly is surprisingly effective. but widmark can't play good guys.

  4. runfromfire's rating of the film Warlock

The interactions between the principle players makes it much more of a character piece than the run-of-the-mill setup would lead you to believe.

  5. ryan birch's rating of the film Warlock

CRIMINALLY UNDERSEEN! One of my favorite westerns.
