Ratings & Reviews

  1. Stefan Drees's rating of the film We Are What We Are

A gripping portrayal of social dynamics inside a somewhat unsual family. The use and playement of music is very good. I watched the film for a second time and didn't regret it.

  2. João R's rating of the film We Are What We Are

This movie is both effective (perhaps since it showed some potential) and limited. Its basis could have lead to a promising examination of this family dynamic is, however, suspended due to its undercooked characters and an untidy final.

  3. Nicole Danielle's rating of the film We Are What We Are

There's no reason this movie needed to be as long as it is. The plot could have been condensed into a vine video, tbh.

  4. Daniel Garcia's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  5. Willyzacc's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  6. Christophe's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  7. Tibulle85's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  8. Michael Zyx MH Claes's rating of the film We Are What We Are

Hostel, family version. Good, but disturbing movie. Eye catching title, but questionable content. The criminal activity gets unmarked as committed within the family. No distance here. Savagery becomes the norm. Bon film, mais perturbant. Titre accrocheur, propos contestable.

  9. Tiph's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  10. Paul Relf's rating of the film We Are What We Are

Bleak, dark and slow-burning to a brilliant finale. Wonderful!

  11. Miguel Macias's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  12. MiGuanajuato's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  13. Moises Rosales's rating of the film We Are What We Are

Masterpiece, brilliant picture of mexican characters

  14. gaafgaaf's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  15. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film We Are What We Are

Hombre come a hombre (débil).

  16. Nelson Núñez's rating of the film We Are What We Are

Mediocre.

  17. Pymo's rating of the film We Are What We Are

A family portrait. Painted in blood.

  18. aeljosh's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  19. nargs_au's rating of the film We Are What We Are

I wanted the mom to die from the moment she spoke. Average film but easily one of a kinda.

  20. CinemaDead's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  21. Effendi Ben Smith-Malick's rating of the film We Are What We Are

Ella me vuelve loco, Uh uh, Como nadie más, Uh uh, Ella me vuelve loco, Y no puedo ayudarme a mí mismo, Uh uh.

  22. Sunrise's rating of the film We Are What We Are

A poorly constructed narrative makes this difficult to digest. The makers equate long duration with a the tone of the "serious," which are not mutually exclusive concepts. These shots do little to push the narrative forward, and ultimately prove a waiting game. What makes the work even harder to accept is an implicit (and seemingly unintentional) politics: demonization of the impoverished, despite the perspective.

  23. Paolo Simeone's rating of the film We Are What We Are

  24. Michael Harbour's rating of the film We Are What We Are

Some very good moment to moment filmmaking but, where I enjoy a movie which is a journey of discovery, revealing its story as it progresses, this felt more like the filmmaker withholding information throughout the movie - and I never learned enough to make it a satisfying experience. That said, this film shows a lot of promise for a first film and I'll definitely give Grau's next film a look.
