This film was made memorable by the presence of Pedro Infante, who was a huge star in Mexico, and the popular story many could relate to. To modern eyes, it is an overwrought melodrama, but it is one of the most well-remembered films in Mexico. One way to look at this is with nostalgia, and that will make it easier to look past the flaws, which do not overpower the film, but manage to detract from the story.
