  1. Bilouaustria's rating of the film Welcome, Mr. Marshall!

CINEMA, 35mm _ The long introduction, brilliant, with the voice over from Fernando Rey, reminded me immediately the world of Sacha Guitry, this humour and talent to play with comments over images. The rest is as good : the dreams sequences, funny because far over the top, and the good dialogues all the way. Marshall expected as Santa. I know too few spanish comedies, this one is for sure to remember.

  5. T. J. Mesen's rating of the film Welcome, Mr. Marshall!

The most Berlanguian film Berlanga ever made. Expressing to the max his blend of Capra's sensibilities, neorealist characters, Welles' aesthetics, and his own 'spanishness' and satire. It's also the best example to disprove those who believe Berlanga's only concerns were the actors and their dialogue; with an expressive camera that showcases his proficiency at the long take and his close attention to details.

  6. SiIencio's rating of the film Welcome, Mr. Marshall!

Spain, its provincialism, isolationism, plunged into poverty & underdevelopment after a devastating Civil War. Berlanga is a master of satire caricaturing a society victim of a retrograde dictatorial regime, beating the censorship at the time. Welcome... has the heart to portray the warmth of the people with irony & humour. Great cast of professionals & villagers, humble, hard-working & dignified. Masterpiece.
