I loved this movie! Did not think I would love this movie!!! First of all, that image of a naked woman eating an apple over an equally naked man just grabbed me and I knew I had to watch it. And I haven't stopped thinking about it since I saw it like a week or two ago. At its core, it is a kind of ghost story; and I am haunted by it.
Atypique.
I think I have a serious issue regarding Japanese porn kinda obsessed culture. More likely, I got a problem whit porn in general. I'm not referring to shame, judgement or scandal, not even censorship: I feel like something - let's say, the longing component - is going to be missed, beyond repair. Everything's too much shown off, but I just want, as a spectator, my own imaginary wandering. Looking at this, I can't.
I'm sure there's a thesis to be written somewhere about the first Roman Pornos as a subversive form of political activism, and the rising commodification of modern pornography nullifying any possibility of traditional cultural authority for the form. (Q: Where does softcore go when hardcore is but a Google away? A: When you blow cold to a wet woman in the wind, something's bound to get hard.) A funny, irreverent gem.
This film starts quite strong and the plot actually has some potential, with a bit of effort it could be an interesting film on its own. The humour works quite well (a lot of it is specific to the Japanese culture). As the events unfold the film progressively shifts towards a rather uninspiring soft porn feast. Not bad at all for what it is. If you're a fan of the genre then you should definitely give it a try.
It definitely just softcore porn, but that's not exactly my style. A handful of pretty cool ideas and scenes that don't get the attention I had hoped for because the film needs to hurry up and get to the sex. This just isn't a movement I have much interest in.
Although there are many scenes of a sexual nature, this is a film that isn't just designed to titillate viewers. The cast all do well as their characters play games with one another, and a couple of the central relationships developed prove to be surprisingly authentic, at least in terms of motivation and connection.
Thesis statement: there is no escaping the entropy of sex. WET WOMAN IN THE WIND is cute, funny, and smart. Sexy, sure. It gleefully degenerates in the best way possible. Our hero has isolated himself to fend against the onslaught of womankind and his own glands. Nothing doing. From a wonderful opening the film develops leisurely, though in antic screwball mode, only to very suddenly go judiciously bananas. Yay!
(I don't know the director's background nor the Roman Porno genre) The movie feels to me like a caricature of some very common dynamics between human beings. It looks like the director has taken a lot of inspiration from comics and cartoons for some over-the-top scenes and dialogues. In fact it wouldn't look so odd if it was a cartoon
Another film from Nikkatsu, rebooting the legendary Roman Porno series. Akihiko Shiota's film is a wonderfully playful comedy, showing the passions of several characters in a game of tug and pull, tease and release. There is some violence and greedy lust enraptured in the sex scenes, and I'm sure none of it is to be taken too seriously. I enjoyed the playfulness throughout, and the sex scenes were erotically charged.
