This film is a big mess..it is inconsistent, it seems forced and in the end it is a very awkward dull experience. The ridiculous banter is neither funny nor smart, especially when it comes to fool's gold, not having sex with female friends or something poo-related. I guess they were looking for sweet and corny and cheesy with some originality and flair in the mix. Well, that didn't work out at all.
Justin Chang of Variety wrote, "Roughly three parts charming to one part cloying, "The F Word" attempts and largely succeeds at pulling off a smart, self-aware riff on romantic-comedy conventions while maintaining a core of earnest feeling"
Sums up perfectly how I felt about this film.
Not really a question of "what if," but rather "when?" When will they bang? You know they're going to bang sooner or later, so it's funner if you make a guessing game out of it. I wagered they would bang at the 1-hour mark.
Radcliffe and Kazan are cute enough together so that their eventual banging has a hint of emotional credibility. It just would have been cool if everybody wasn't so obvious about the whole thing.
Endearing and enjoyable rom-com with many familiar beats that doesn't break any new ground. However, it has a great cast and a lead couple with great chemistry. While the story in itself is very predictable I found myself enjoying it more than I thought I would.
