  • João Eça's rating of the film When Willie Comes Marching Home

Absolutely dated and unnecessary gags, a wtf romantic sub-plot with a french partisan (which, despite being absurd is quite beautiful) and a third act full of heroic mumbo jumbo ruin an otherwise good or even great film. It lacks the cojones of "What Price Glory" or "They Were Expendable", especially because in 1950 anti-german propaganda wasn't needed anymore... A lot of incredible shots, though, as always in Ford.
