Docu-fiction sur la carrière de MORRISON avec d'inutiles ajouts scénarisés. La voix détachée du dandy DEPP convient peu à cette histoire de star tuée à 27 ans par l'alcool et la drogue. +++ Johnny DEPP's detached voice is out of tone for this bio of one of the 7 ROCK STARS KILLED BY DRUG & ALCOHOL ABUSE AT THE AGE OF 27: Janis JOPLIN, Jimmy HENDRICKX, Amina WINEHOUSE, Brian JONES, Kurt COBAIN, Alan WILSON
It´s a great vision over The Doors (and Jim´s definitely) phenomenon. Great and fast edition, you can watch it without feeling those "boring passages". The text and direction is from Tom Dicillo, so there´s a lot of a personal vision, like the Oliver Stone movie adaptation about it. It´s great, entertaining, but nothing new. It just keeps "the flame" alive, and come on baby, light my fire.
Should have been MUCH better, it took them two years of editing, one infamously negative film festival showing of the original cut, and then they had to bring in Johnny Depp to redo the narration. I only give it 3 stars because the footage is good, but the film isnt.
The text is quite stupid. "To burn out you have to be on fire"? Seriously. I am disappointed. I am not the kind of fan who goes ecstatic at the sight of any previously unreleased footage. Not anymore. Subject matter is not very well defined - at times, some unnecessary detail about the studio equipment, at other times - complete silence on important matters. And Johnny Depp's audio on a very low level.
