this movie isn't classically christmas-y, but its fun to watch. it's very white, and not in a snowy way. its cute and entertaining to watch. its also very very pretty. the costumes are excellent and the songs are very enjoyable. i would watch this again but definitely not after the holidays, like i did just now. White Christmas is a saccharine hokey pile of synthetic sentimentality but if you watch it at just the right time during the holiday season you'll probably notice a small tear sliding down your cheek, then the subsequent self-loathing for letting it happen. Everyone does their parts well (even the freakishly thin Vera-Ellen) and if there ever was a textbook example of It-Is-What-It-Is, White Christmas would be it.
Great songs (even if some are fillers) and a wonderful story that doesn't scream Christmas but exemplifies the spirit of it alongside the usual musical-misunderstandings. Loved the performance sod everyone, including Jagger, who'll tug your heartstrings in the end. A charming Christmas classic.
