Upon recent re-watching, the reductive view of communist Russia remains inadequate, but the dancing... oh the dancing. Looking back, Baryshnikov and Hines were at the pinnacle of their artistic maturity and physical form, collaborating in a marvelous fusion of styles. Their moves here are truly world class and a delight to behold. Too bad the screenplay gets in the way.
