Wiebo's War

Directed by David York
Canada, 2011

Wiebo Ludwig is a suspect in a series of pipeline bombings near his farm. The bombings echo a campaign of sabotage he waged 10 years ago: barricading roads, blowing up wells, culminating in the unsolved death of a teen aged girl.

  • mpho3's rating of the film Wiebo's War

A bit of a challenging film in which sympathy builds towards the protagonists, who are a bit dodgy yet ultimately are in the right, environmentally. I would've liked to know more of their specific Christian beliefs and how Wiebo became Wiebo. Sadly-predictably, their neighbors and RCMP seem blinded to and helpless before the gas industry's machinations. P.S. Goldsmith's Jonny Greenwood-esque film score is a gem.
