Ratings & Reviews

  1. Bilouaustria's rating of the film Wings

The strength of this multiple Oscar-winning-Hollywood-classic is obviously not its script. The writting is conventionnal, the twists predictable. But the oh very spectacular direction of Wellman and the fight scenes (were are in 1927 for God sake !) are highly entertaining. Cinema as spectacle at its best. With big screen, good laughs, some sad bits, nice camaraderie. Gary Cooper makes a noticeable 3 minutes cameo.

  2. steeeeellaaaaa (Iulia N)'s rating of the film Wings

they shot in real planes. with the real actors driving the planes and acting at the same time. in fucking 1927. just think about that.

  4. FISCHER's rating of the film Wings

  5. Balthaz21's rating of the film Wings

  6. El Biffo's rating of the film Wings

American blockbuster war picture sufficiently violent to garner an Academy Award, overrated as are most winners of an Oscar for Best Picture. The aerial dogfight scenes may be of interest to some folks, and there is a nice macho tearjerker ending to round it out as above-average standard Hollywood fare. For a more meaningful picture of WWI, see Abel Gance's J'ACCUSE.

  9. fardian's rating of the film Wings

advance air fight technique in that time. mind someone tell me how did they shot it?

  10. Hugo Poderoso's rating of the film Wings

How to do the shot dissection of an air/space battle sequence. Also, mindless triumphalism struggles with painful brutality and fatalism and both positions get a share of the film.

  11. Dogukan4Ever's rating of the film Wings

1927, dir. WILLIAM A. WELLMAN - 8/10 (USA) ["Best Picture" Academy Award Winner of 1927]

  12. Daniel S.'s rating of the film Wings

Amazing flight scenes. While the couple Clara Bow/Charles 'Buddy' Rogers is uninteresting to say the least, let's focus our attention on Richard Arlen and Jobyna Ralston whose mysterious love is enthralling. Highly recommended.

  13. Luana Frez Ichikawa's rating of the film Wings

  14. Maxim Chernykh's rating of the film Wings

Production, production and more production. And Gary Cooper.

  15. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Wings

  16. Julia Miville's rating of the film Wings

This is one of the most beautifully shot sight films I have ever seen.

  17. Elvis Is King's rating of the film Wings

Best DVD/Blu-Ray restoration of a silent film I've come across. Jaw dropping. Even includes hand-painted fire and muzzle-flashes in the battle sequences.

  18. Amadeus Magnus's rating of the film Wings

Gary Cooper and the Flying Circus or How I Learned to Stop Worrying about Censorship and Love Clara Bow's Bubbles.

My Favorite War Film Is 1998's Saving Private Ryan.

  20. AKFilmFan's rating of the film Wings

While it's a bit overlong and the dialogue could use work (ex. Jack's inebriated love for bubbles), the aerial battles are outstanding and are worth seeing.

  21. AlexanderKR's rating of the film Wings

Saw this one back in the first film class i ever took. It was on vhs too and have been curious to revisit ever since. Happy to see this film history landmark is finally getting the bluray treatment.

  22. oldfilmsflicker's rating of the film Wings

one of the best films I've ever seen.
