Kieran Darcy-Smith's much anticipated directorial debut does not disappoint. This is a gripping drama which maintains the suspense throughout. Joel Edgerton and Felicity Price are both particularly impressive here and I love the original soundtrack by Tim Rogers (of You Am I). While the ending isn't entirely satisfactory, the movie is still very good and well worth watching.
Structure unfortunately dictates action and information here which made for a frustrating watch. There are a couple of very powerful and perfectly realised scenes in this and the portrayal of 'Aussies abroad' is spot on in it's critique of the west using the east as a dumping ground. At the end of the day the pay-off is very straight-forward for the time invested in getting there. 3 stars
