Jingoistic generic action movies don't always have to be American. This flag waver offers about the same experience as the average Chuck Norris or 'Expendables' film...lots of bang; little brain. Nothing of novelty here unless you really want to see some incredibly fake CGI wolves.
This was very successful in its home territory and there's more than a whiff of a sequel to be done, and if they do, listen Wu Jing and listen closely, You can still have Scott in it (no spoilers here) Just make it a full on fight fest that's a feast for the eyes, and for god's sake leave out the CGI Wolves, it ain't big and it ain't clever. "Wolf Warrior" received a harsh drubbing from Western critics for being a jingoistic, pro-military puff piece, but this is precisely the kind of film that Michael Bay produces on a regular basis. Director/star Wu Jing has delivered no more or less than Chinese cinema's answer to "The Expendables," and he acquits himself nicely with some well-staged (if rapidly edited) action sequences. An admitted guilty pleasure.
