Ratings & Reviews

  1. José Neves's rating of the film Women in New York

From the same piece that originated Cukor's "The Women", Fassbinder makes another filmed theatrical performance, again a TV movie, with a device in blocks where each scene corresponds to a long sequence-shot with Michael Ballhaus master-camera sliding in front of the actresses, amplifying reflecting surfaces and the phonetics of dialogues. With a set of absolutely stunning actresses and Peer Raben tapestry of sound.

  2. Samuel T.'s rating of the film Women in New York

An exhausting and hysterical histrionic masterpiece, each scene one VERY long shot, interludes of Hopper paintings (master of isolation). Classic RWF tale of deception and manipulation. Essential for every Fassbinder fanatic. Also, I love Margit Carstensen.
