Wafer thin but impossible not to love. Julian Jarrold knows to build momentum in a given scene. There are better examples in Red Riding but the scene where George punches Vernon in the face is the sort of thing Jarrold does really well. The movie's full of that kind of feeling and so all else can be forgiven.
