When major Greek Gods face each other and get killed off their deaths should be epic and spectacular and not just fizzle out like they do in this mediocre fantasy adventure. There is fast-food quality over the entire production with celeb cameo stunt casting and unconvincing effects that look stolen from a 1950s Italian version. Only Rosamund Pike is worth a look as an icy Amazon.
Someone somewhere really thought we needed another chapter of this lame saga???? Not as embarassingly awful as the first installment but certainly nothing really spending much time with. Effects are hit and miss and very derivative of LOTR this time around. Is there any rock in this film that Sam Worthington isn't thrown through or hit with? Pike always a pleasure and Ramirez steals what little show there is here.
The pitiful reviews for this are mostly made of disrespectful cinema-snobbery. As a sword-and-sandal action film, this was quite a bit of fun. The special effects were mesmerizing at times, and the mythic story was entertaining, albeit watered-down. It wasn't thoughtful by any means, but this is not meant to be highbrow or artful filmmaking. Accept it for what it is and embrace its purely escapist purpose (fun).
Special effects peppered here and there with strong wavy haired men in the throes of deep manly feelings and seasoned with some humor provided by Pegasus. Titans, except Cronos (depicted with massive heartburn), still MIA. But hey, maybe they'll turn up in "Titans: Reunion". One can only hope.
