Something wrong happened with this film as it is so overstuffed with ideas (only the subplot with Dark Phoenix would have needed it's own film) with stuff that get no time to breathe. Visually great but the film is filled with stuff that make no sense and it is weak in character development and the "climax feels anti-climatic. Wanted to love it, but iI felt disappointed several times.
It's not the worst entry into the X-Men franchise but at the same time it is far from the leagues of the best entries. However it is still an interesting entry into the X-Men film saga. With lots of interesting characters and funny moments this closely resembles a live action cartoon.
Some characters’ storylines felt way underdeveloped (Rogue, Angel, the little boy which had the cure, etc). The moving bridge was just silly, but, like the first two films, this one also had its moments, specially everything related with Jean Grey/Phoenix. It seemed very rushed: considering this would be the “last stand”, and with such large budget, they could have done a longer film and given it more closure.
