Not nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. It's nothing special, and something of a disappointment coming from director Harold Ramis. But Black and Cera are fun, and a great supporting cast - including hilarious turns by Hank Azaria and Oliver Platt, in particular - keep things moving through the hit-or-miss jokes. Serviceable goofy entertainment that doesn't deserve the hatred that's been heaped on it.
Consistently pretty funny, and with a message that sneaks up on you, this could have been a whole lot worse. Pairing Black and Cera was a great idea. The real strength was the Python-esque period humour, which they could have used much more of.
