Ratings & Reviews

  1. AKFilmFan's rating of the film Zatoichi 10: Zatoichi's Revenge

With a more darker and brutal edge, this is one of the best of the series (so far) even as it retains the fundamental structure. One of the surprising aspects, which provide both emotional resonance and laughs, is the supporting character of Denroku the Weasel, who struggles to be a good father and grows throughout the film.

  2. nrh's rating of the film Zatoichi 10: Zatoichi's Revenge

akira inoue's first and only zatoichi film brings an interesting visual sensibility to the table - cramped mid-shots with foreground obstructions, stuttering edits, vibrant colors, and an interesting shift to hand-held camera for the final confrontation. add a strong script (with typically great opening/closing scenes) and an elegiac, flamenco heavy ifukube score as highlights.
