Unlike more typical Italian zombie fare, Zeder (which is also known as Revenge of the Zombies) emphasizes mystery over gore. When a journalist (Gabrielle Lavia) discovers a bizarre secret within the ribbon of an old typewriter.

The synopsis summed up it well. Quite curious and bizarre film on the atomic zombie thematic. This one evolves more like a giallo-mystery-detective film with slight touches of gore-terror at the end. Beautifully written with a tense and creepy atmosphere around death and love passion. Definitely recommended for fans of 70s / 80s Italian thrillers
"Zeder"is the story of a writer investigating a former priest and a group of mysterious researchers.Who are carrying out studies into life after death.Released under several misleading titles, that gave the viewer the impression that they were going to see some kind of gorefest. It's however more Argento then Fulci and has a slow atmospheric build up of doom.Theres also a feeling of expressionism and Val Lewton here.
Not too bad considering low budget and rather mediocre directing skills of Pupi Avati. He hits the notes of a proper mystery horror, in which the dead are coming back to life due to powerful radiation...
