What are people saying?

  • Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Zoya

Some potent imagery but really only the inevitable rouse-the-populace-to-victory. As brave Zoya is tortured to death by Nazis we see her life in flashback. We learn that young lives full of promise are destroyed by war and that a good Soviet is willing to die to defend the Motherland. Outrage about Germans burning books, or that "man is to happiness as bird is to flight" are unintentionally ironic, given the period.
