An amiable quirky indie comedy is entertaining enough. It's got an original story, and a handful of memorable moments, but what really makes it worth watching are the performances: Michael Douglas is fun, but its really Evan Rachel Wood who does an excellent job carrying the film. A pleasant indie film, but also pretty conventional at times and really nothing special.
What a sweet, lovely movie with career-best performances from both Wood and Douglas; if you don't shed a tear by the end, I dare say you don't have a heart. I can't believe Mike Cahill, the writer/director, hasn't written or directed anything since this movie...
This movie sucked me into its heart and lunacy. Evan Rachel Wood did a wonderful performance playing Michael Douglas' filial daughter, while Douglas' character convinced me that being out-of-touch with reality doesn't exactly mean you're less human. Great script, and wonderful directing!
